1- TITLE: 

Agriculture initiative in South Sudan working project.

2- BRIEF BACKGROUND: 

Agriculture initiative in South Sudan working project started in the year 2020 and being sponsored by Eirene Organisation from Japan Tokyo with the idea to improve our way of living in our community especially children staying in our community.

3- ACTIVITIES DONE:

This time we didn't do much in our project due to sunshine in our Environment as it located in Semi desert environment.
We mainly concentrated in growing vegetable.
  1. Transplanting seedlings from nursery bed to the garden.
  2. Watering vegetable.
  3. First and second Weeding done.
  4. Planting of Maize a hectare.
  5. Poultry ( Duck ) the only survival duck was successfully survived from the injuries and it was treated with the local herbs ( Ash, Salt and some from plant ).

4- PLANS ACTIVITIES:

  1. Preparing to cultivate Sorghum field.
  2. Local fencing with thorns trees.
  3. Production of vegetable.
  4. To get pesticide to help in vegetable gardens.

5- ACHIEVEMENT:

  1. Planting of Maize for this season done.
  2. Growing of vegetable continues.
  3. Motivating workers done with half payment which generated from sale of vegetable.
  4. This project also improving the life of people around especially Women and Men who are benefitting indirectly in doing work.
  5. Only Duck was treated well and is OK but lonely need the companion.

6- CHALLENGES:

  1. Inadequate funds cannot allow us to motivate the workers with full payment as it has been agreed.
  2. Used of elementary tools such as hand hoe which make it hard to open farm land in large hectares.
  3. Limited market for vegetable due to up coming opening of the school and parents are preparing to send their children to school.
  4. Lack of Pesticides e.g, Gladiator.
  5. Domestic and bush animals encroaching the vegetables several times.

7- RECOMMENDATION:

  1. Provision of improved equipment such as walking tractor with ploughs or animal tractor which can increase the size of land under cultivation.
  2. Needs for pesticides to help us in controlling Termites and caterpilars in vegetable garden.

8- CONCLUSION:

We still continue to appreciate you for improving our lives here especially children living in our community, we promise to cooperate with you and do our best always.
