Report for Sustainable Agriculture Project from Narus, South Sudan 006

1- TITLE:

2- BRIEF INTRODUCTION:

3- ACTIVITIES DONE:

•  Harvesting Sorghum done successfully.
•  Transplanting new garden for shukuma wiki.
•  Planting Amaratus.
•  Transporting Sorghum to Narus community from the farm.
•  Controlling some pest ( weevils ) in the seeds of cowpeas using redpaper powder.
•  Motivating workers done.
•  Purchased of Nylon Suck and Busycle.

4- PLANS ACTIVITIES:

•  Maintaining growing vegetable gardens for a moment while we approaching dry season. 

5- ACHIEVEMENT:

•  11 nylon Sucks and 3 besin of Sorghum harvested.
•  35kg of Cowpea seeds stored for next farming.
•  Food for children stored no hunger again.
•  Got one security guard which was helping in the farm to avoid stealing of crops.
•  Means of Transport ( New two wheels tyre Busycle  Royal type.
•  Constant balance diet for all the pupils in St Daniel Comboni Boys Primary school-Narus.

6- CHALLENGES:

• Insecurity ( fighting between Toposa tribe and Turkana tribe from Kenya ).
• Drop down of price in the market was difficult for us to sell our crops and vegetable on due time.
• Too much rain in harvest time.
• Inadequate tools.
• Bad road due to heavy rain make transportation very expensive.

7- WAY FORWARD:

•  It will be better if we continue with planting vegetables because it can grow within short period and cheaper to maintain.
•  Planning early for next farming will be better although we need to move according to the weather.
