1- TITLE:
Agriculture initiative in South Sudan Narus.
2- BRIEF INTRODUCTION:
Agriculture Initiative in South Sudan working project begun since 2020 by the support of Eirene kashino Fund from Japan Tokyo. The project started with main aims of improving life of vulnerable children living in Narus community.
3- ACTIVITIES DONE AFTER THE DROUGHTS.
- Redigging of spoiled Sorghum and Replanting the new seeds.
- Planting Vegetables.
- Vaccinating all the Ducks to avoid their usual sickness which may kill many.
- Motivating workers for digging or Planting our Sorghum and Maize.
- Harvesting and sales of Vegetables.
- Hiring of small Car to transport our vegetable and Ducks to Kakuma IDP Camp in Kenya.
4- PLANS ACTIVITIES:
- Maintaining Sorghum field until harvest period even though isn't doing well.
- Harvesting and selling of the ready green vegetables by next week.
- Improving Poultry feeding.
- Putting wire fence around the Poultry house so that it'll avoid theft in stealing Ducks.
5- ACHIEVEMENTS AFTER THE DROUGHTS.
* Even though our first plantation was dried up and nothing was harvested, I'm happy to achieved the below achievement within short time after it began raining well. I give thank to KEIGO who promised us his prayer.
- 73,550 KSHS equivalent to $504 cash kept and it was generated from sale of vegetable and Poultry.
- Purchased of Scholastic materials for 19 students learning in two schools.
- 67 Ducks ready for house use or sale, hopefully it'll generate for us some amount of money.
- Sixty Seven (67) Ducks are being vaccinated by the competent person and it cost us 29,400Kshs equivalent to $150 for Purchased of vaccine and pay labour.
6- CHALLENGES FACING US AFTER DROUGHTS.
- Lack of near by good market where we can sell our products in a good price.
- Unpredictable sickness which attacked me last time has interrupted our project.
- Insecurity here.
- Theft, many of our Ducks has been stolen by some wrong guys around especially when I was away for treatment.
- Continious sickness in the Poultry is affecting our Poultry seriously.
- Hiring Vetinary doctor from Kenya is a big challenge to us here.
7- WAYFORWARD:
- Better if in the next meeting, we may discuss how we can get a way of taking our produces to the Urban main Market like Torit, Juba or Lokichoggio/Kakuma in Kenya.
- Construction of Wire fence around the Poultry may help in protection of our Ducks.
- Having planned well how to sell our produce in a good price, it'll uplift our project from time to time.
8- CONCLUSION:
I'm so sorry not to send you report for JUNE-AUGUST as it was supposed to be, I remember that time found me battling with the sickness as I was referred to Uganda for treatment. In this note too, Takanori I want to appreciate you for your kindness and love towards my life for accepting my request to go for further treatment.
